Hey guys, I wanted to give a mention the Northern Outdoor Recreation and Ecotoursim program being offered in Valmount since 2001
Valemount
Its how I got started in flyfishing/snowmobile guiding and how I ended up with my current position with VARDA
Its a one year certificate program and after you finish, you will have every tourism operator you approach offering you a fun and exciting job. From fishing, to sledding, whitwater rafting or hiking and even your own business. The community and class sizes are small, its a blast and its a very easy way to learn.
I believe there is 3 spots left out of 16 for next September. This program was on the list from CNC this last month as a program for deletion, but the community, students and our local MLA fought for it to be saved and today we were successful. Its been the best thing Ive done in my life and Valemount is a great place to be. If your looking to gain excellent experience and get a job in this amazing industry, this is the way to do it.
