Would trying to fire up the 2013 xm 800 with out the gauges hooked up fry the coils?

I have no spark. Makes sense. What do you guys think?

What coils? My 14xmx is at my buddy's place and with the lights/gauges off and he said he fired it up to check out the sound vs. his '13...should I be worried he wrecked something?

What I did was install a turbo and try to fire it up with the gauges off and no spark even with them hooked up now. Sounds like some coils are better than others. I have new ones on order hope this fixes the problem.

A lot of the 13's had weak coils.

There was a "recall" .. my 13 got 2012 coils put in under warranty .. there was a bad batch of 2013 coils

if you still have warranty they should cover it

Not only that, but they were extremely suspect able to failing due to moisture from snow getting in the Underwood.

while in there check your plug wires. I had a faulty plug wire for half a season last year and never knew it. Easily can tell by checking resistance in plug wires as well black arching dust.

Yeah we checked wires, were sitting right in the middle range. But to me that is good.
