First sled as a passenger was an old Alpine, single ski, twin track. First sled I owned was a 1976 Olympic 340 twin. Paid $100 for it and had to put it back together.
Unless you are riding the trails hard and fast, go with a moderate mountain sled, 800 with 144" track, with 2-up seating. Having ridden both sleds, mountain sleds offer much more fun factor. When the wife is at home your not restricted by deep snow.
