Anyone having these issues? Check engine light comes one, followed by "service stabilitrak" and "service anti-lock brakes"....30 seconds later you get "engine power reduced" and you slow to a crawl. OK...happened the first time at 90,000km (year and a half ago)...told by an Autopro dealer in Red Deer that it needs a throttle body...900 bucks later and I'm down the road. Happened again a month ago at 135,000km. Take it to the Autopro in Sylvan who tells me there is a service bulletin from GM and to take it there as they will fix it for free...no charge. Was informed that this comes up on the Autopro software when the truck VIN and code is input and that the previous Autopro dealer should have known this. (don't go to Wrenchmaster is the moral of the story here) Took truck to Kipp Scott and they changed the TP sensor under warranty.
Anyways, lasted a month. Same issue Friday...then again today. Kipp Scott says they "cleaned connectors and added dielectric grease to harness, but if it happens again, you need a new wiring harness". Getting dinged 2 or 3 hrs labor on this one. (haven't picked it up yet, so not sure)

WTF GM? I am pi$$ed. Is it time for a Toyota Tundra? Any GM techs out there have any advice?

Don't get me wrong...I love this truck. Just spent a bunch of $$ and time making it all pretty again and put new tires on 'er....but this throttle body thing is annoying.

First issue is the t body aftermarket and bad wrench masters

Second, make sure when ripp Scott did the recall t.p sensor update, they reprogramed the ecm

If they did both, then yes wiring between ecm and t.p sensor or fawked ecm, have seen both

Was it a p2135 t.p correlation code dave??

I believe that was the code. I also remember them saying the ECM was reprogrammed last time. Bad Wrenchmasters put in a GM t-body I am pretty sure.

If I have to buy an expensive harness or worse, an ECM....this truck is GONZO.

the only issue I ever had with my Y2K 5.3 was the tp sensor. it was still on warranty and never gave any trouble after they changed it. got rid of that one and got a '10 with the 4.8...no issues so far with this one and just rolled over to 170K.

kick that service manager in the nuts and tell him to get it right. he is a friend of mine, little white haired guy with glasses named Rod. he looks like he's sixty, he's had white hair since he was 25. he has a sweet little ultra violet purple SSR with a supercharger.

Rod was great to work with when I had the GM torque converter issue....I may have to look him up this afternoon...

Best thing to do is run new wires outside of the cluster fawk harness, re pin new harness to t.p and into ecm

That will tell ya forsure if it's a ecm or not

he's a smart guy, been a GM tech since he was 21. there isn't much he doesn't know about GM vehicles. he was the one that urged me to go with the 8.1 over the duramax when I was looking to order a new one back in '05 once I told him it would only be used for towing a few times a year. he lives with my other buddy Al that is the lead tech at Gasoline Alley HD. both are good dudes

Umm, he's had the special policy done at a dealer, which is a t.p sensor update and ecm reprogram

It is not a recall at all, just a FYI

funny thing is I have 2 Tundra's in the driveway and never had issues.... and Toyota will give me a new truck for free when I get 1 million kms on them.

I'm guessing you guys that drive those smaller trucks need some kind of incentive.

Just a question here Dave. Have you taken said truck to a GM dealer? Seems like a GM technician may know what is going on from what Geoff is saying.
