Talking to one of the SRD dudes today, they're calling the fire west of Whitecourt an ATV caused fire. They found fresh quad tracks in and out of the immediate area and chunks of dried up muskeg just like what falls off your exhaust after you go through a mudhole. It's friggin dry out there, we need to be careful....put in your spark arrester in and make sure you clean out around your pipes after you go through mudholes (if you can find any).

I'm shocked that the MD of Clearwater doesn't have bans on yet. I acually thought it was an Alberta-wide ban.

That's good, hopefully it doesn't come on before the May 1 weekend. There will be a lot of unhappy campers at Medicine Lake with no fire.

So the Whitecourt fire? Has it gotten into the snowmobile trails? How bad and where is it heading. Trail signs are not fireproof

i also heard they had to evacuate the Casino as the fire came right up to their property line but they managed to keep it in control at that point. Very dry, as other mentioned sure hope we get rain so i can enjoy a camp fire out a Rocky this May long.

Far enough from the trails but is on the pipeline tha we use as the return route from Virginia Hills back to town on the Saturday rally. 21 hectares burnt up and is still on the 'held' status. Crew bus and chopper were still there on the way home from work tonight.
