I BLEW THE ORIGINAL BRP BELT ON MY 1000RT, AND I PICKED UP TWO "JUST AVAILABLE" GATES EXTREME BELTS FROM NAPA, FOR ONLY $68.00 EACH MY COST(RETAIL WAS ABOUT $100.00). THESE BELTS ARE SAME LENGTH AND WIDTH, BUT THE THICKNESS IS ABOUT 1/2..... I PUT ON ABOUT 300KMS AND KABOOM, THE BELT OBLITERATED AND JUST THREADS HAD WRAPPED AROUND THE PRIMARY CLUTCH...... LUCKILY I WAS JUST GOING UP A TRAIL TO BLUE LAKES IN SICAMOUS, AND NOT DOOIN' A HIGHMARK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I PUT ON THE SECOND BELT AND WITHIN 100KM THREADS STARTED COMING OUT THE SIDE.... BOUGHT A BRP BELT($180.00 RETAIL AND I FOUND 1 FOR $150.00 IN SICAMOUS) AND ALREADY HAVE ABOUT 300+ KMS AND STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW.... RETURNED BOTH THE GATES BELTS TO MY NAPA DEALER...... PICKING UP 2 BELTS FROM RORY @ PURE ADDICTION MOTORSPORTS TODAY, AND I THINK THEY ARE ULTIMAXES.... WHAT BELT DO YOU RUN ON YOUR 1000RT???:confused::confused:

I tried a ultimax that my brother bought me for christmas and blew it up in 150k. I sent it back to ontario for warrenty consideration as the way it blew UP was quite strange. It peeled about 1/2 of the top layer off for about 6 in.I am using BRPs 198 belt and get about 5-700k per belt. The max width spec onthis belt is supposed to be 1.51in. min. spec is 1.41. The belts I have been getting measure 1.44 to 1.46.Brand new and already half way through the wear limits!!! If you were to measure their race belts you would find that they are exactally 1.51in. Thats why I was hoping that 297 belt would fit the 1000 as I dont think they make a race belt for the 1000 summit. If someone knows different I would sure like to know.

I JUST WENT TO PURE ADDICTION MOTORSPORTS TO PICK UP THOSE NEW BELTS, BUT THE CARLISLE BELTS LOOKED IDENTICAL(THIN) TO THE GATES EXTREME BELT, SO UNFORTUNATELY I PASSED ON THEM AND WENT TO SKI-DOO AND PAID $160ISH + GST(INCLUDES 10% ASA DISCOUNT). GUESS I'LL BE STICKING TO THE BRP BELTS FOR NOW TOO......:(:(

Pull out your vernier calipers and measure them and see what the width is.

Just couldn't pay Doo the 150+ for a belt. Went with an Ultimax 3 for under a hundred. Only 800 km so far so good. No change on clutching, measured at 1.50 new. I guess we'll see. Doo store said if you don't like the 150 for this years belt, wait for next years "better" belt for 190.

Nice.

Stock belt....Floating secondary....
The first belt went just over 1600 miles....these things are harder on belts. Second belt now, sled has 2500 miles on it. 2005 Summit 1000 151.

I had run every belt instead of paying 180.00 for the BRP belt

Ultimax 15km
Ultimax 3 52km
Ultimax XS 148km

Doo belts 500km

Geared down and put on a TEAM roller secondary and using 1 Doo belt 2800km and still had not blown.

Doo belts are far superior.
