Washing Snowmobile Cover

Hey Snow and Mud experts. Want to wash my snowmobile cover. Planning on washing it in the house washing machine when the wife is away. Lol. Any tips? Should a guy hook the straps together or leave them loose? Just worried about them catching or hooking on the tub and wrecking the washer or the sled cover. Cold or hot water? Thanks!

I wasn't brave enough to do mine in the washer for the same reasons as you and was also worried about destroying the fluffy felt layer. I put mine on the sled and pressure washed it and then hit it heavily with a couple coats of scotchgard.

I wash mine frequently.
Do not wash in machine with a centre agitator. Destroys felt. Can wear holes in tarp. (very experienced after destroying one. LOL)
Use the biggest machine at the laundromat.
Largest load setting for the most water. Warm water. NOT HOT
I use the gortex wash that I put in with my Klim gear. when I wash them.

I use the pressure washer also at car wash but stay a good distancw from tarp.
Those things put out alot of pressure and can do damage real quick.
Snap clips together and hang dry.

Just take a big storage bin warm water and dishwasher soap to many suds with laundry soap hand wash and rinse with cold water hang dry might save your marriage might not get all the sand and salt out of machine and she might end up getting it in her panties on the next wash

Ours is a fairly large stand up spin tub Richard so no center agitator. Should work then?

I take in to an Esporta Cleaning facility and have cleaned. They also do a great job of your boots.

Front load or non agitating top load warm water and detergent, good to go

Big front load at the laundrymat. Been doing it for years. If the washing machine wrecks it, it was a POS cover to start with.
