So as stated the bike is an 05'... Hours unknown but looks in decent shape. $1,500USD. Which is about half price of what they are normally going for. Why? Because the chain balled up and broke the case. It has been jb welded or epoxy patched and the owner has said he has rode it for two years since. So do you think it is worth it being a good deal or better to spend some more money and find something different?
Been out of bikes for several years and wanting to get back in it. Last was a 2 stroke so these 450's are all new to me! Overall is the 05' a decent bike? Is the case patch that big of deal? Just keep thinking for $1500 it is worth it but not sure....what do you think?

hell yeah, I'd buy it for that price. had an old XR 200 back in the day that did the same thing, I used body filler to fix it and it ran like that for the rest of it's life. as long as it isn't leaking oil out and making a mess she's good.

see if you can't somehow fab the original case saver back in tho. but as long as you keep your chain in good shape and replace every year or two it won't happen again. breaking a chain is a sin....neglect

You could pick up a complete blown motor for next to nothing and use the cases from it, provided it was just the top-end that went (this is usually the case with these bikes). A 450 that old I would be looking to replace the crank and main bearings anyway. 1500 seems fair but as a general rule I would never buy a black CRF with 5 monster decals on it...you know what kind of people ride bikes like that.

Rather than buy both cases, I've had good luck with TIG welding the hole closed again. A lot cheaper and only cost me $50 at a local fab shop to repair the same damage on a CRF.

I've also worked on bikes that have been JB'd or epoxy'd back together years before and are still working fine and leak free.

Like the guys above said.....if it ain't leaking, you're good to go! Just ride it!

Hahaha i agree with you on that, i hate bikes that are all stickered up with redbull and monster stickers, but i couldnt help but notice your profile pictures got a side by side on it side... Does your bike have monster stickers all over it??
