I guess the kid had a transceiver but his dad did not.
He was buried deep. So when another group arrived with transceivers. 4 meters was the lowest number read.

Does anyone know if in BC / Canada they have a similar report that is done on all investigated avalanches? The report write-up from this article is very good and thorough, lots of information there for people to read and learn from hopefully to help prevent similar situations. Even the google earth reference is nice for those who are always wondering where exactly a slide occurred, so they can steer clear of these problem areas in the future. Just some thoughts.
