In Elkford, the good old 1982 Pisten Bulley, 200D with an 8-way blade that is 14'-6" wide pulling an old Mogul Master. Depending on the logging activity, we groom anywhere from 50 km to 100 km. If the logging roads are plowed we can't ride sleds nor groom. In the last two years we have improved the Koko Claims trail so that we can pull the mogul master to 6700' (in about 15 km) and then we disconnect and continue with the SnowCat for another 15 km to the Bull River. Most of our grooming has to be done downhill, so to speak, because of the power required to pull equipment up the steep climbs. Back over the same route and groom the parts we miss on the hills.

We go through 6 avalanche paths/runouts and those can be a couple of hours of work if they have recently come down and covered the trail. In the one picture, the runout was over 15' deep and some have been over 20'.

We use SPOT for our communication system as cell phones nor radios work effectively. Okay for the obvious, "one" Help message for mechanical failure, and a continued Help for operator injury. Works great, except in the Gorge, where satellite communication is minimal.

We have a lot of areas that are single-track and if you find the groomer on the trail, have patience as the operator will eventually pull over where it is safe for the operator and the sledders.

Trail passes are volunteer and available at the gas stations. It would be nice if more people would pick up their pass to help us out with fuel and parts.

Nice pic`s. I used to run a pb130 in k country was a very nice ride.Them bombi was made for the winter olympics (1988) but we could`nt get them to run..out here at that time.I never run the 200 but the bombi 400 with tiller and pickup like a scraper and the 400 plus was sweet to.I drove the 400 plus up on the mackenzie delta building ice roads and syesmic.

Some more of the PB200D.....Safety first is always forefront and this day was the reinforcement for a walk around. The ol' girl was having some maintenance and the cab pins weren't put in properly. The first hill we went over (and the pictures don't do justice to the real situation), all of a sudden the wife and I were in the windshield (literally) and wondering what the f++k was happening. To make a long story short, the cab lifted and through us into the glass. Nothing broken except our pride and we continued on our merry way. The third picture is just to show those who are doubters that we doo groom the East Side but BC Hydro and the loggers get in the way most of the time (I'm not complaining it is just that they have a job to doo and we have to work around that). Man, I've had some interesting trips.....

Bombardier BR180 Groomer Pictures

Tri-County Snowmobile Club (Leduc County)

A few member said they have not had the chance to look at a Groomer...

We are hoping to bring this Bombardier BR 180 Groomer into the ASA Show on October 23-25 at Northlands in Edmonton. Stop by and have a look and see how they work...

Just wondering how much would one of these cost...

The Bombardier BR180 above is a year 2000 and cost $100,000.00 USED...
The last year of Production for the BR 180 was 2007 and the groomer was $175,000.00 PLUS the drag $25,000.00 so for a complete set around $200,000.00 all said and done.

The new Prinoth (Bombardier was sold to Prinoth) BR350 (350 HP) are $350,000.00 each.... need to sell one F__K of a lot of trail passes to buy a new one. That is why the ski hills buy new and run them for 3-5 years and sell them off -- then the poor snowmobile clubs can afford them used.

Good thread. Has anyone converted a small seismic drill to a groomer?

Here's the groomer used at Horsey Creek which is located in between Valemount and McBride. Not too sure who operates it, but it sure is appreciated. I'm sure someone else will have some more info on this unit.

One night out somewhere in BC years ago we stayed up on the hill way to long and we were the going to be the last ones out. We all groaned and moaned as we left the cabin knowing full well that the trail was already beat to crap when we went up in the morning.

Well we wound our way down to the "open trail", who should we meet??? The groomer!!! right at the beginning of the groomed portion of the trail heading out. We stopped High fived each other and we all waved as we passed the groomer operator and I am sure he could see all our smiles through our helmets. 25km and probably an hour on dead tired bodies on bumpy hell became 10 minutes of re-invigorated riding with periods of racing and periods of enjoying the freshly groomed trail and thumbs up as we rode out.

God bless the groomer operator!!!
