The marks are in 1 foot increments. The lowest line you can see is the 4 foot line. The pole goes up to 19 feet.

the number of feet of snow. But remember the pole is next to some trees, in a bit of an alcove --- so I usually take that as the minimum amount of snow in revy-- many areas will be wind blown , or just get more snow due to elevation etc .... but it is showing 4 feet right now -- pretty good for this time of the year...
