secondary spring windup?

I took apart my secondary ('02 800 hmx-rer) to clean and replace the buttons. Am I supposed to wind the spring a notch or so when reinstalling the helix? There is an arrow on the sheave that says "spring tension" or something like it.

The stock spring in my 02 summit's secondary was straight compression so it didn't need pre-tension. but i am not sure if the x model is different or not?
