I have a Polaris diesel quad coming in next week. It took water in the intake and has a knock now.

Anyone run across a related issue ?

I'm thinking it took water in the belt drive and clutches making noise ?

disconnect belt from motor, so you can isolate the noise, if its the motor, big trouble,, if clutch,,no big deal,. but dont take to just any Polaris dealer at 95.00 a hr.if you can help ut anyway.Make sure they have a experienced Diesal Tech.

Kind of what I was thinking. Pull the belt first. I have the manual on them, this one is a '98 my manual covers up to 2001.
Guess just in case I will be looking for a used motor

Being it took water in the intake, my guess is a rod. Deisels don't like water, it won't compress. my $12.

as opposed to gas engines liking water?

I busted rods in my 4runner, need less to say there was no noise after the large clunk. I think you'd have way more and bigger problems if it was indeed broken, I bet your engine would not run (if it did i wouldn't be for very long).
