painting stock pipes/can?

I was thinking of cleaning up the stock pipe and can on my sled. Chrome is nice when it is clean... However, I was wondering if painting them with engine paint (stuff in a spray can from cambodian tire. hemi orange) would eff up something.


sled is a 06 M7.
