Analysts at DesRosiers Automotive Consulting have pegged October new light vehicle sales at 160,216 units, down just 0.6% relative to October 2018.
The leading passenger cars — Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla — noted declines (of -8.8% and -1.2% respectively) while the third place Hyundai Elantra gained some ground for the month with a 3.1% sales increase.
The only passenger car segment to note an increase was the luxury sport segment which saw sales grow 41.8% for the month.
The Honda CR-V was the standout performer among light trucks, securing fourth place with a 27.5% sales increase.
The standout segment among light trucks from a growth perspective in October was the large luxury SUV segment that grew 52.5% for the month.
Sales in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Alberta were all up for the month, while the rest remained fairly flat.
British Columbia noted the only significant decrease for the month at 10.2%.

When you are paying a 75 cents a litre more for fuel in BC than Ab maybe takes away from desire to buy a new vehicle?
