I work here in fort Mac and see how many new projects are planned and hear the statistics of these companies and their future projects on the radio all the time and if people think that we're producing lots of oil now they haven't seen anything yet! The expansion is amazing and there is no stopping it. I would love to see more upgraders and refineries in AB but at the same time I don't believe its realistic that we could handle all the upgrading and such. Our population is only so big and can only expand at such a rate. It would be nice to see us handle more of our business in these matters and have the rest go to the US. I hope our friends to the south realize that their "leader" has taken away 20000 jobs from them in the dire situation they're currently dealing with.

how bout fawk the rest of the world and keep the oil for ourselfs ... our gas should be cheaper as it is ... and how r u going to run yer sled when there is NO oil left ???
Umm do you really think when we run out of oil in 100 years (and that's estimating on the realllllly low side) that our sleds are gonna be powered by petroleum byproducts? Think about the world 100 years ago and realize that our technology is improving exponentially and if you can grasp your simple brain around that, then give your simple head a shake.

You think you are going to be around in a hundred years to worry about it?

No we're obviously not gonna be around in 100 years. My point was that at the current rate of worldwide oil usage we don't have to worry about "giving it all away" because we'll have a replacement for oil before we run out.

Yeah it'd be nice to get away from as large of an environmental impact as we currently produce but its this or we suffer the way the US and lots of other countries are. Personally I wouldn't like living in a country with a terrible economy.

Waa,Waa,Waa....the sky is falling. People should get there head out of there ass. Ever since the biggest footprint on earth Al Gore ( one of his many mansions use $35,000 a month in power) gave us his inconvenient truth movie, we all feel that we are all doing wrong.
WOW...what a business man, because he is on the top board of every "green" industry in the country/world. Do you think he is doing it because the environment?
Al Gore is set to be a billionaire because of his hypocritical views of the environment, not bad for a guy that couldn't do it in politics.

the numbers do not add up to refine here it takes nearly three barrels of sweet crude to make one barrel of gasoline and over two tonnes of bitumen to make the same why would we want to refine it based on those facts our gas prices would be $3.50/ltr. if we had to do it here . we do not have the man power and based on the fact that everyone in alberta would feel like they are now entitled to $100 /hour to do their job it would be a disaster. the p/l will go when the election goes away plain and simple no politician wants there name attached to 'dirty oil 'in the middle of an election but when that is gone they will trip over each other to get the deal done to look like the hero that now created 20k plus jobs the whole thing is a joke but we still hold the cards we just need to stay the course stop giving this chit away
Barrel of oil $100, Barrel of Refined Gasoline or Diesel at the pump $230-260. I am amazed that he did this but its simply a political stunt for re-election. We give you a product at discount(cause its Dirty) you use your people to refine it and send it back at a premium, it doesnt take a banker to see those numbers adding up. It was also jobs ect in the struggling economy of the US. They need the oil last time I checked there were not anymore dinosaurs being turned into fossil fuel anytime soon. If Alberta/Canada was smart it would be building Refineries everywhere and it would carry our Economy for 50-100years. Or untill that Magic endless renewable energy source is found to replace oil. Even the most challanged President GW Bush and the good old boys would of rubber stamped this pipeline as it is nothing but good for the US. I hope the pipeline to the west coast gets Approved as 2Billion Chinese people may want to use some of our "Dirty Oil".

Of course the fact that the decision had nothing to do with the pipeline completely escapes most people here it seems. The Republicans (who seem to be willing to completely destroy their country so make the President look bad) had attached the keystone approval to a large bill that had many things that were unacceptable to the Dems. They made it a "pass it all or pass none of it" bill they passed none of it. But it's all Obamas fault......

Your right ,Obama can make an ass of himself without any help...................
Ya gotta love a guy who wants to raise the debt limit ,EVEN though he has no clue how to pay for what he has already borrowed !!!Yet,say no to tens of thousands of jobs........................

We need to start looking out for our own country more. Less of this lets hurry and cut corners to make a buck today when we could make a hundred in a week. As for the comments of we won't be here in a hundred years wow think I know why the world is going to ch!t its because of people like you that have no forward thinking. LMFAO

I agree to a point ,but do not want to paint all americans with the same brush..................There are a lot of decent people who are paying a hefty price for the wanna be rockstar decisions`s .That would be like thinking all canadians were like the liberals & NEP program. However, like most socialist goverments ,he will soon have them bankrupt !!!!

Obama's dreamin he won't get a second term.

i dont think it really matters who is in power in the US as they will do what benefits themselves (we should take a page from that book) and screw the rest. Obama has issues but I recall GW Bush was no winner either. Look at what his government did to the softwood issue which dramatically affected the BC lumber industry. Funny how people forget.

But now the indians are fighting not to let Embridge build the pipeline to kitimat.

Do you think you would fight it to if there was any chance that the ocean life and fish you and your ancestors have lived on for thousands of years could be wiped out with one supertanker accident or one major pipeline spill. Oh and by the way the "Indians" are not the only ones trying to ensure that this pipeline for Alberta crude doesn't completely f@ck up the west coast fishery, there are a lot more people potentially affected than the natives.
