definitely no hooks. they can and will break and end up through your window or hit someone. I always have a few good shackles stored with my strap

Straps are a thing of the past, for any kind of recovery job use a kinetic rope

In our offroad club, we were told 3 times the weight of the vehicle. For my Jeep TJ, I run an 18,000lb strap, I beleive. And yes.... NO hooks. EVER!

Yah there is a formula we use designing recovery lugs. I think its like twice the weight with a vehicle in mud up to is axles.... Straight pull, no jerk. 3 times would cover the jerk and some angle.

Kinetic, bubba... I know them as Boing ropes. IMO for sure the way to go.
I pulled out a Dodge 3/4 ton that was hung up on his rear ends with my 1200 lbs. dune buggy. Parked bumper to bumper and let er rip. Took a few jerks but I got him out. No stress, was a forceful but soft deceleration as the rope tightened up.

A good example in the link. Going up hill, in sand the stuck truck is in deep, look how easy to pull out. Both trucks would be stuck with a regular strap.

and in the mud *great camera angle on this one.

Where can you buy Bubba Rope in Edmonton

Check their web site it'll tell you who their vendors are.

At one point pevey mart in Spruce Grove carried a bunch of the 3/4" x 20 foot but that was the only size.

I orders mine in direct. Great to deal with.
