Would anyone be able to tell me why it would be idling high around 2500-3000. I've adjust the idle screw a bit and the throttle cable. Was reading there's an air screw some where for the carb would there be to much air getting in and that's why. This is also at 2200 ft at home would it be fine up in higher elevation?

Shouldn't need to adjust throttle cable . Just adjust idle screw on carbs turn it anticlockwise till it's down to about 2100

Have a look at the throttle cable for fraying. That was a common issue for higher mileage XP's in 2008-2009.

Does it only do it when really cold out or all the time? May be to lean in the pilot jet. Swap the 17. 5 to a 20 or adjust the fuel/air screw. Give the choke a quick flip on, should idle it down. If it idles back up when you turn choke off I'd say lean. Check carb boots very good too for cracks or delaminating
