you should be carrying your spot in a backpack or in a pocket not mounting it on your sled...if something happens and you and your sled get seperated you're going to be needing your spot

as for the GPS....i mounted my on the risers for the bars....(because if you and your sled get seperated you're not walking out of there anyways so a GPS won't do you alot of good imo)....on the risers it's easy to read and mark your location while on the move

GPS gets a Ram Mount. You can get a handlebar mount, ram ball, extension and GPS holder with %100 replacement for under $35 for most GPS units.

I don't know where you would find such an item in Nelson, but gpscity.ca would be a good place to start looking.

For a spot I would use the soft case with the backpack strap holder. That way if you have tracking enabled you are getting a clear view for a signal.

I use the RAM mounts for both on my KTM. I agree the SPOT should be on the person when riding alone, but in a group, I prefer it mounted to my bike as I get very poor reception in my pack and it is not protected from the weather (but I have not checked out the soft case). If the soft case is waterproof, that just might be the ticket, thanks!

I pack mine on my belt . So far never had a reception issue with it there. Packed it in my pocket too.
