I've got a 2007 1000. Lost the mag cylynder on the hill no compression.Pulled head, no apparent damage to piston or walls. Did stock sleds have weak rings? Do you need to pull engine to do top end? My egt was 1250 pulling wot for about 20 seconds. Thought those temps were ok. Any comments?

Gotta pull the cylinder off and have a good look. If there's no compression there's gotta be damage somewhere. Sounds like you may have gotten lucky with the cylinder though. I have mine set to run about 1050 - 1100 deg on a WOT pull, but I like to be on the conservative side. 1250 "should" be OK but how does the wash look on the top of your piston....and your plug colour?

It's tight on the 1000, but you "can" do a top end without pulling the motor, but I learned the expensive way to do crank seals at the same time. They have just as many miles on them as the pistons!
