So I picked up a radio today, a Kenwood 55 watt truck mount unit. The dealer presetup some channels on it but what is the protocol when on the forestery roads?

I need to be schooled!

if the roads are busy i generally will only call empty when first starting up the road or a new road/spur let the loaded or down vehicles do the calling and give them the right of way

BC you call up with Kms rising and call down when they are going down.
Alberta it is loaded or empty pending direction from mill . Loaded headed towards mill and empty going away."Forestry roads."
Some main roads that are wide 2 ton and under only call areas posted. You don't call every km.

Not sure in Alberta but here in BC we are now using a rr Channel, this consists of rr1 and up to ??? 30"I think. In the Kootenays most of our roads are posted with the rr channel and call instruction right now.
Some of us ( old timers lol) still trying to catch up to this new program.
leave it to government to funk with something that works.

Gotta create jobs or give those with jobs something to do. Keeps the economy spinning!

If there is a change in government, just wait and see what transpires. It will boggle our minds.

I hear yah, at times I get mad and question wtf is going on like I'm going to make it all better, but seeing there will never be a change I now just up my dosage and except the fact stupid people run the country... I need to except it.

The RR channels have actually been a really good change in the interior. No more vagabond truckers hauling without the proper channels.

Agreed.

And no more people stopped at km # 0 trying to program their radios.

Or people on the road that think they punched the frequency correctly but are talking to no one.
