Hi All!
We have a wonderful group of ladies from near and far gearing up for some ladies rides here in the Kootenays.

The rides will consist of:
Tech Talk: On the Friday night, our ladies will learn some basic wrenching skills, and troubleshooting. Some of the tasks include
learning how to change belt, adjust shock pressure, track tension adjustment, the most common gremlins and their easy fixes.

Safety orientation: Avalanche Awareness, how to build positive group dynamics, what to pack in the back country, how to build a snow shelter and other survival skills.

Skills development: The ladies will learn basic climbing techniques (if they choose) Carving, getting the sled on edge, side hilling and jumping basics.

These rides are free of charge with a donation to the local sled club. I'll post up more details as we go. Our first ride is set for
the Creston Area January 22 and 23. (22nd will be an evening meet and greet tech talk)

We will potentially have rides in the Creston, Nelson and Cranbrook areas. I have some wonderful helpers, (Birdie from Snow and Mud) along with back country specialists and some first responders (yes ladies they are firemen) on hand for our first aid support.

Membership matters, and it's partnerships with local clubs that help make events such as these possible. Anyone and everyone is welcome. This is not a Ladies only ride. Some women love to have their husbands near by and that is totally cool.

Nice...!

I'd love some of those basic skills too.... I'll have to pay attention and see if they do anything like this here in Calgary. I don't know squat (and should).

We're in!! My wife started riding last year, and would love some insight from other women in the game.... We're in the Crowsnest Pass, but are willing to come for the weekend. She would definitely want me to be in the same riding area (but not attached to me) for the rides. Name a time and a place, and we'll be there!

Its hard for me to teach her. I've been Mtn riding for almost 20yrs and what comes so naturally to me, is a nightmare to a newbie. She rides a '13 Doo XM and has little fear, she just needs a little guidance. This sounds like an amazing opportunity and we would make a very charitable donation to the sled club!

She got really excited when I read this post to her.... Make it happen, Momma!

We have picked January 22 and 23 for the first Kootenay Sled sister ride! It will be so awesome! Looks like a wonderful turn out with ladies coming from all round. Tech talk and meet and greet on the Friday night. Saturday will be awesome. We have all insurance and safety peeps (yes including the firemen first responders) with us on the hill. We will separate into groups and the ladies can learn basic skills like carving jumping and side hilling. We'll have mock scenarios... sled is stuck.. how do you unstick yourself and get rolling.. blown belt.. sled is bogging type of situations... lots of significant others coming to shadow, help and have fun. Guys are for sure welcome, but we want our ladies to feel a sense of independence and Rawrrrrr ness. If you encourage your wife to check out the kootenay sled sister page I'll be sure to help her feel at home. we are already having pretty cool discussions about things common to us. We have ladies from all around reaching out.

I am so incredibly inspired to be a part of this! Huge thanks to Robyn Ostlund, Candice Chernenkoff, and Riley Vocat for being the most epic team leaders and wingman girls on the planet! we are all in this together and share the same passion, so it is such a blessing for us to connect with each other. The fb group is already sparking some wonderful friendships!

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to call me at 250 428 7531 at Kootenay Speed Shop during the week!

Much love home slices!

Braaap out!

Trish

It's truly unfortunate that you have chosen the same weekend as Mountain mania in Golden

Well crap yes!

We are running this event through Kokanee Country Snowmobile club and the directors voted on this date. Our community is very excited to host this event!

Plans are coming along nicely with our ladies ride! I'm so excited to have a few brand new first time riders coming for this day. We have so many ladies coming from out of town. I'll post up accommodation options shortly. Kokanee Country Snowmobile club members are super excited for this ride too!
I was surprised by a delivery man yesterday.
He came in, and this wonderful box of goodies for our ladies ride. Super HUGE thank you to Diva's Snow Gear for this box of wonderful door prizes for our ladies!
