Just kidding... Made you look! My son got "Krusty" (seen in the blue shell below) for his birthday earlier this year. He then got "Spongey" (in the yellow shell) last week. Hermit crabs are actually very social and fun to watch. Very clean as well.

Wow , how do you get them to go into the painted shells ? Can you handle them or do they just stay in the tank? Tell us more about them. Thanx

You can take them out of the tank and play with them. They will actually "bond" with the owner and get really used to being handled by them. They don't seem to have an issue with the painted shells. We actually got to see the big one (Krusty) move from the orange shell to the blue one last week. When we got him he was originally in the Oilers shell then moved to the orange one. They will eat anything you give them. For calcium we just give them old egg shells to munch on. For their water you just mix in a bit of sea salt and distilled water.

There is a ciosk in West Edmonton Mall selling them. They had 4 or 6 tanks, with what seemed like hundreds of them in each tank. Kinda freaked me out.
