We flew all day, left Red Deer at 8:00 am, got back at 5:00 pm, had 3 half hour stops for fuel/food.

Those are great pics...thanks for sharing. Good for you for heading into the mountains soon after you got your license. My old man has had his license for most of my life and we've flown in the mountains for years. Best advice I can give ya is watch that weather! Sounds like you were keeping an eye on the clouds but some of those pics show some serious cloud cover around you. That stuff can close in fast so be careful!

It's a 1958 Piper Tri-Pacer with the 150 HP engine.

Nice looking plane and good HP. What is cruise speed? Most powerful plane I ever flew was a 172, not very fast.

This one isn't real fast either, it will cruise straight and level at about 120 mph, about the same as a 172.
