Broke the 3 inch crusty top, then it's sugar snow, no traction until you hit bottom!!! That's how we got stuck, oh and following Imdoo'n hehe

yes it would be better if we had a good dump of snow a foot or so. the onion trail is always skinny on the snow and you skim grave a lot of the way. the alpine areas had more snow but it gets blown into the trees. if you ride the trees you will find waist deep snow. as nutts said, friggin sugar snow = no traction once ya break through the 3 inch crust. and the creek is open all along the trail. we didn't try hummingbird trail, may have been better as it goes through the trees. canary creek may be too rocky. supposed to snow saturday and sunday. will see.

no, been trying hummingbird for the last 3 weeks looking for snow. last weekend was the best so far, still may be ok, just the temps are melting everything. this may be the last weekend unless we get some snow and colder temps. may make a last attempt sat or sunday, supposed to snow sunday.

It's raining white stuff right now! Hopefully the back country is getting a dump worthy of going exploring!!!

Has anyone been out this way yet this year? Heading up to my parents at alder flats for a few days. Was thinking about going for a look see maybe one day.
