this area is never plowed. not much snow and the snow that is there may be dangerous, 18 inch's of sugar snow under a 3 inch crust. in the alpine this is extremely dangerous read the avi bulletins. wear beacons, check snow before any climbs. phones don't work, your on your own out there. again snow pits may be the best idea.

no, been trying hummingbird for the last 3 weeks looking for snow. last weekend was the best so far, still may be ok, just the temps are melting everything. this may be the last weekend unless we get some snow and colder temps. may make a last attempt sat or sunday, supposed to snow sunday.

I live out here and to me they just ain't worth it. But I don't like riding cut lines either. Drove the trunk last Thursday from west o Caroline to the lodge. No point in sleds there. Just too warm.

Ya. There's not much out that way for sure. Was hopin it would be good winter and go way in behind peppers. It would be fun area with snow. Hike and hunt in there from aug 25 to oct 31 most years. Can pop over top and on to ranger creek. Could be such a huge area with snow.

the problem wtith that is you can only access ranger from hummingbird staging, you shoud get a srd fluz map or go online for same. you could be geting large fines for being in wrong area. sleds only have a few areas that are legal to ride west of the forest trunk road. srd patrols out there quite regular, and they like giving out welcome papers.

Ya I got the maps. Haven't bothered lookin due to lack of snow. I hunt sheep out there on foot so know which mountains u can sneak over and still get down safely. Found perfect one last year.

you can walk or horseback anywhere, they just limit sleds and atv's. they also like to give out tickets. check your map for riding area's,
