Honda CL90 Help S.O.S.

Ive got an old honda 1969-1972 CL90 it has been sitting 10+ years with a full tank of gas that has been recently drained and it has no battery which im not sure that is needed to start the bike. does anybody have any info on what kind of battery I need. or other things i should do to get it started. any help appreciated. I'd start by removing carb and cleaning it.
