A JFYI, there is now a LED kit available that replaces the standard H4 bulb. The control units are small and will fit in the XM goggle warmer and still leave room for gloves or goggles. They are 1800 lumens (about 3x stock headlight) and draw about 30 watts and I believe it has high and low. Looks to be a plug-in setup with no wire cutting. Somewhere in the $250-275 range.

Skidoo has a extra headlight kit aswell fits under the existing light. Supposedly works really well. Not sure if it's HID though

iv had issues with HID lights in my 13 XM pull start. ses light would come on and set it in limp mode.
i would try a kit like these, LED
