Hi all. I just stumbled across this great website. I live near Namao, just north of Edmonton. I used to be a sled head, but I migrated over to ATV’s when I got married. The wife and I try to ride in the mountains as much as we can. One of our favorite places to ride is Cadomin, although the place is upside down right now with the mining activity. When I’m around home I do a lot of winter riding on the Sturgeon River. I have a 2001 and 2005 Honda Rubicon and a 1976 Polaris TX440. I have to say I’m mulling around the idea of getting back into sledding. Other than the antique, my last sled was a 99 700 RMK.

Here is some pics of the TX440

Thanks guys! I added my info for the map, but my marker isn’t showing up. I'm guessing it takes a while before the map is updated?

Hello Mike...

That's a great looking sled... its in excellent shape! Do you partake in the vintage sled shows/rides...?

Hey... with a room like that, I'm heading over to your place.... we could slide a whole mess of sled porn into you DVD player... a be set for hours of thrills...

Welcome to the site and enjoy...

Its never to late to get back into sledding..... just remember to purchase the wife a great sled.

My theory is, if her's is better than yours, you then have a valid reason for upgrades and modifications.... :D :D :D

You've got to be careful on the Sturgeon.... huge rocks and free water....

Hey, thanks Michael. I had the old TX at the snowmobile show at Northlands a few years back. There was a bunch of antique sleds on display.

After a long ride it’s nice to sit back with a beer and watch a movie. Very relaxing! If you bring over some sled movies, my wife will be vary nervous. I may be enticed into doing something rash and expensive! Get back in the game sooner rather than later.

I agree with you. You have to treat the wife right. I bought my wife a brand new 2001 Rubicon before I upgraded my old 450ES to an 05 Rubicon a few years later.

great looking poo what have ya done to it

I bought the sled from a guy that had it sitting out in the back 40.:nono: It was a mess. I striped it down to nuts and bolts. The frame had some damage so I swapped it out with a frame from TX340. I had the frame and other parts sand blasted and powder coated. The fiberglass hood and pan had holes you could put your arm through, so I patched and painted those. I had a graphics shop do up new decals. The engine was in pretty good shape. I just gave the cylinders a light hone and replaced the pistons and rings. Mechanically its pretty much original. The guy that had it before me put a Comet primary in it. The clutch is a piece of junk, but I haven’t gotten a hold of a Polaris one yet. The other weekend my GPS recorded it at 55 MPH. It had more in it, but the ride was pretty rough. Got’a love modern suspension.:D
