Our PVSR meeting went well last night, we had 16 members in attendance and met some new club members.
I would like to thank Tim Lagace (Zal) for all the work he has done with the club as our president for the last 2 seasons. Tim has had to step down as our club President due to personal time constraints with his business, we would like to wish him the best in his endeavours. He is remaining with the club as a member, I look forward to his input and any help he may be able to provide in the coming seasons. As the club's vice President, I have accepted the position of President for the remainder of this season and will do my best to keep up the quality of leadership we have enjoyed in our first 3 years of existence.
Our trail committee has received final approvals for our next trail west of Grimshaw called the Smith Mills Trail that will run from Figure Eight Lake to Stony Lake on the Canfor road north of Hines Creek. We will now begin aggressively campaigning for donations to get this trail in and completed, we will need approximately $150,000. We will be heavily relying on donations from local businesses and contractors to complete this project, if we get the kind of cooperation we received for our first trail near Leddy Lake I am sure we will be successful! A huge THANK YOU goes out to our Trail Committee headed up by Dwyane Buchholtz for their diligent work to secure all the necessary permissions required to make this trail a reality.
We also received more good news, our Arctic Cat groomer has arrived at Peace River Ford which is our local Cat dealer and will be ready for pickup soon. We were given a hefty donation from Shell Canada in the form of a $10,000 cheque, and we are awaiting another grant from the province that will pay for the remaining balance of the sled and groomer package. We will have smooth trails this season, as long as we get the snowfall we need! Another big thank you goes out to Frank Armella for spearheading this aquisition, this will legitimize our previous work and committment to having family friendly trails in the Peace region for all members to enjoy.
Our next club meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 10th, at the Ag hall east of Peace River. if you are local, I would encourage you to come out and meet our group and join up!
Thanks, Troy.
We are planning our media release for Dec 7th Glen, we have taken delivery of the groomer but not the sled as there was a problem with the winch soleniod. It should be good to go by the 7th, I will post up the media release and some photos of the event. It's a pretty big deal for us, we're hoping it will attract some well needed attention to our club.Post some of your groomer pics in the groomer section. Nice rig. You guys are doing great for a 3 yr old club.
Yes, we certainly do! the ASA has graciously given us a cheque for $15,000 to go towards the work on our Smith Mills trail west of Grimshaw. With our donations in kind, as well as a generous private donation, we have also received money from the 2 MDs that our proposed trail runs through with the promise of more funds for any extensions within their boundaries. We are very close to achieving our goal of $50,000 to begin work on the trail that will run from Figure Eight Lake to Stony Lake north of Hines Creek. Our cost estimate to complete this trail is $150,000.I hear you guys has more promising news.
Trail cleaning in the snow sucks ba!!s. Electric start would have saved you some trouble there Troy. Snow looks decent though..Beautiful day up here today, got out on our Leddy Lake trail and got some clearing done. Had 10 sleds there today, part of the group ran the trail to pack some snow down while four of us cleared 5 miles of deadfall and blowdown. Pretty good workout, jumped on the sleds and ran the rest of the trail after we were done. Still quite a bit of debris to clear, was good to get out and see what we're up against.
Got out to Deadwood Lake and did some carving around in the waist deep snow, flopped my sled on it's side and before I got it upright it died. No biggie, hold throttle open, yank cord.....handle comes away in my hand and the rope disappears into the bad place. Okay, pull stinger off, remove recoil, fish rope end through hole (knot came undone! me=tard) but no spring action. Disassemble recoil, hook shaped tip is broken off the devil spring. Nice. Pull out the ol' rope and plastic clip, stick recoil into backpack, and carry on....good times. Hitting Smith Mills trail tomorrow....

Mother nature dealt us a bogus (awesome?) hand this season in the form of big snow before it froze, a lot of the trail is on marsh and skeg and inaccessible until the ground is frozen.Trail cleaning in the snow sucks ba!!s. Electric start would have saved you some trouble there Troy. Snow looks decent though..
lol....especially on days like this i would imagine....we hit the pipeline today, there wasn't a track anywhere to be seenI miss home!!!!
