Hello Snow & mudders!

Just found these forums and found this extremely useful in getting to know where to run in and around Edmonton and Northern Alberta. From Millwoods myself.

Lakeland Prov rec area and North of the Touchwood Lake road on the way into the campground. Hunted here over the last few last years in the 4X4 and quads so familar ground felt better taking the kids out for an easy and familar ride.

The Touchwood lake campsite does not allow quads off-loaded but the staging area for Dabb's Lake Trail is 1KM from the gates and Jackson Lake 10Km out, also 17KM back west is a great run into the crown land to the North. The campsite is non-reserve, no power and 2/3 of the sites are nice and well treed with gravel pads the remaining 30 or so are pretty much an open field. Small beach, great boat tie downs, a small dock and a small playground for the kiddies with great fishing.

We just ran the Dabb's Lake trail 20 KM's in to the first bridge and 10k beyond and back a few times over the week. Some of the side trails had some skeg, grrr with kids, no sand and a little mud. Seemed safe enough to run all day with the kids - 8 bears and countless deer in 3 days!

Following the road past the campsite 11km's is the Heart Lake fire tower and a cut line that heads east to the weapons range. Turning south there I was told by a few that stretch may not be passable even though it's marked on the map. This in theory should take you around the otherside of Touchwood and back out the Dabb's lake trail eventually. The Dabb's Lake trail by the campsite will eventually take you across two bridges and down to Pinehurst or over to Seibert lake.
Jackson lake staging area allows quads, 10km's before the campsite. Only a 10km ride in...
To the North off of Touchwood Lake Road there are two power lines and many trails leading into crown land. We could not explore all the cut lines as some where to soft for the 4x4 last winter but enough to keep anyone busy for a few days.
