not worth the effort with 4000lbs capacity without the weight of the trailer itself, dont do it

Kinda sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen. Even if the axles survive it, the decking and cross members probably won't.

The ol Lady wants a "Toad" (towed vehicle) for behind our motorhome and I was looking at doing the same thing....I figured a Smart car would fit in my little sled trailer and still be under the weight of two loaded up sleds.

I think the SXS's might to long to side load. I have a 14ft PJ's with 3500 axles in it so it is good for 5000lbs of cargo. I put a puddle jumper on it coming back from Calgary and it was fine. I can fit three quads on sideways or two length wise. SXS has to be load length wise as mine is only 7ft wide.

How do you figure a smart car weighs less than 1200-1300lbs. or do you ride Yamaha's???lol

Smart car is 1600 lbs....my little trailer has brakes and is rated to haul 3000lbs....

I wasn't doubting the trailer would handle it, just that it weighed the same as two sleds. Yammy's are close to 800lbs a piece arent they?

In the end, you would be stuck driving a smart car at your destination.

Is that something you can live with??!?! :D:D:D:D
Nope. I would be at the motorhome with the dogs having a cool one, a Captain Black, and listening to Sirius Hair Nation.....SHE would be with the Smart car, hahahaha.
