North Queest Mountain is within the historical use area of the Queest riding area managed by the Eagle Pass Snowmobile Club. K3 Cat Skiing, Eagle Pass Heliski, and Carl Kuster Mountain Park have commercial recreation tenures adjacent to the Gorge. Louisiana-Pacific and Canoe Forest Products use the Gorge FSR and conduct timber harvesting operations in the area.

The Gorge, 8m to 18km of the Gorge FSR on the northeast side of North Queest Mountain, has been known as a ski touring destination since the early 1990’s. The Gorge was identified in the 1999 Recreation Management Plan, the 2001 Land Resource Management Plan (LRMP), and the as a ski touring destination. Recreation Sites and Trails B.C. The Eagle Pass Snowmobile Club has an agreement with Ministry of Environment to manage the Non-Motorized Caribou Closure which crosses the Gorge FSR from approximately 16km to 18 km and encompasses the area known as Happy Valley. Access along the Gorge FSR via snowmobile is restricted due to this closure.

The Gorge Working Group includes representatives from the Eagle Pass Snowmobile Club and Revelstoke Snowmobile Club, K3 Cat Skiing, Eagle Pass Heliski and Carl Kuster Mountain Park, Recreation sites and Trails B.C. and the Shuswap Trail Alliance. Great information! For those who can't figure out where this area is, the area known as the Golf Course overlooks the Gorge area. When we put up the Caribou no sledding signs we managed a closer look at it, would be a beauty sledding area!

Know what's sad

The shuswap trail alliance head guy, was caught sled skiing in the caribou closure two years ago, they want the area to them selves, but lmfao have no idea of any of the lands there on

Pretty sad stuff, really

Now they want to try and take the land, or it's come up for the sled club to look after the road for them

Lmfao, ummmmm ya OK

There are other areas back in there to ride, on the east side of the road, Rene used to ride many of them

The shuswap trail alliance is like meth is to a junky, a sore spot that just won't leave you alone after the first hit

On a similar note, the FLY Hill FSR out of Salmon Arm had 5 vehicles up there today. The first two pickups were going up to have some fun and snow board, the next 2 vehicles were just up 4x4 'ing and they had just pulled out a small Suzuki. The Suzuki driver was a retired rancher/farmer who was trying to find some cows that he hadn't got out before the snow came. The FSR was like a highway on the way down today. It used to pee me off but I got over it and realized they were mostly up having fun just like we were. The 4x4 'ing is over when the snow gets deep enough. I still get peed off when I see tracks on the groomed trails and those guys need a more serious lesson!!

ATTENTION REVELSTOKE SKI TOURERS THAT RECREATE AT THE GORGE.
I am making another post here because I am truly worried for the future of the Gorge Ski Touring area. I received this email from the single non motorized group member of the Gorge Roundtable discussions today.
"I would love to have another non motorized voice at the table at the Gorge Working Group as I am currently the only one. Both K3 and Eagle Pass Heli ski are supportive of making room for non motorized users but the sled clubs are very resistant to the idea of have the gorge designated as a winter non motorized area. Both sled sicamous and the Revelstoke snowmobile club have dismissed any conversation around this area being a ski touring zone. The snowmobile clubs have labeled this survey too biased towards non motorized"
WE NEED PEOPLE TO STEP UP HERE! The Shuswap Trails Alliance needs a supporting partner if we are to keep this area non motorized. The local Alpine Club of Canada Section is the only legitimate organization that represents the Revelstoke Ski Tourers. Please if you are good at interpersonal negotiations and feel that the Gorge is too important to lose then send me a message to see how you can help. Our local ACC has a limited volunteer capacity as we are trying to help protect other important areas around Revelstoke including Mount Begbie, McCrae Peak, the Jordan River Trails area etc. This is just as important but we need others to step up.
Please read over this survey for more information

I’ve never rode there, but know a buddy that’s familiar with the area.
For us that are not in the know, please fill us in with the latest happenings..? Thxs
Basically they started logging up there so lots of skiers started driving up the logging road and then touring at elevation.

Skiers thing that it should be closed for anything with a motor. I think we need to learn to share.

They even tried to take tenyor from the sled club and ckmp

Until the board that does that thing , called and asked

Both the club and ckmp had no idea
