just got mine running this weekend, first time its moved under its own power in 16 years....will the egg shape work its way out of the belt??? kind of a luggin feel to it.

I think mine is a 70, or 78...not too sure 250cc twin.

I went with a freind to buy a 72 335 Olympic last yr and this fellow showed me the Elan,was in the same shed since new.takes it out at Christmas ,then back in after new yrs,but last few yrs ,hasnt been out at all.
theres a lot of 60-70s sleds around here.going to check out a 1980 JD Spitfire and a Trailfire from Original owner.also in a shed since new.

Cameo,,best to replace the belt, I also had a egg shaped belt, still works,but..the new belt works way Better.
also found 2 more Barn Finds today
JD Spitfire and a Trailfire, both unused 15 yrs.not seized.

Those trailfires were a hot sled in there day. looks all together in the photo.

WOW, Excellent Buy !

I bought a '75 brand new, it was called the Elan 300, Black hood with red trim, slide-rails, same 2 cylinder engine as yours. Great little Sled, I'm sorry to this day that I sold it.

It replaced an old 250 Elan single, probably the best little sled I ever had.
