Daughter got her licence couple wks back & would like to get an older Ford Escape.
Anyone have any input on what some of the better years to look at are? Any issues with certain models?
Anyone wanting to sell one??

Price range is $5-6000. More options, lower mileage the better.

Thanks for any input.

Hard to work on. Brake hoses are the number 1 thing that goes. 90% of the ones coming into work need brake hoses. Driveshafts, rear diffs all expensive if anyone even will repair it for you.

Like most entry level vehicles(which an escape is) they are quite reliable to 150k , and after that tend to have some weird failures to over 200k. Like all above said, they're just a lot of weird failures and prematurely worn components.. Like glen said, hard to work on and rust is usually a factor on undercarriage repairs.... Steering, suspension, driveline etc...... Found a very low mileage older one, and u might have a good one.... Get it inspected before u purchase

i drive a 2004 escape 3.0l with 320000km. Things i changed are the regular wear items. I have done a alternator, front cat converter and 2 wheel bearings. It even still has the original battery and it has no heated shop in the winter. As for the tranny i changed oil in it every 50000km and never had a problem.

All I need to do is change the fluids for my piece of mind & 1 rear axle seal.
