For comprehensive snowpack conditions outside the boundaries of Fernie Alpine Resort, Island Lake Lodge, and Fernie Wilderness Adventures read below and make a book mark for further information. These two guys are in the field 4 days a week checking snow conditions in the popular riding areas.

The file size is too big so I will just copy the important info to get you started:

This winter, the Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) has two field technicians in the South Rockies region. Gord Ohm and Dave Tracz are collecting snow, weather and avalanche observations to help support the avalanche forecast in this area. These observations are taken at popular sledding and ski touring areas and then communicated to the forecasters in Revelstoke. The forecasters incorporate these field observations with the other data they have for the area to produce the daily avalanche forecast.
Anyone can access Gord and Dave’s field observations by using the CAC’s Discussion Forum. Here’s how:
First, make sure to read the Bulletin to get an overview of conditions in the region. For a detailed summary click the Forecast Details tab located just above the bulletin. To read Gord and Dave’s observations click the Discussion Forums link located under the Pre-Trip Planning tab. Once you are on the Regional Discussion Forum page click the South Rockies link to view the discussion posts. Posts from Gord and Dave are signed by the name “South Rockies Field Tech.”The CAC encourages all backcountry users to participate in the discussion by signing up and posting their own field observations. To join the discussion and post your own observations click the join link located in the top right of the Regional Discussion Forum page. Fill in the required information and start sharing your observations. It will be great to get everyone in the backcountry involved. Let people know where you’ve been, what you saw in terms of stability, snow conditions, access issues and avalanche activity, as well as any other observations you feel are relevant for other backcountry users. If you have pictures that you would like posted please email them to forecaster@avalanche.ca. We look forward to reading your posts. Have fun and be safe.Gord and Davegohm@avalanche.cadtracz@avalanche.ca

Thank you, it is wise to use our resources and study the conditions...improving our odds for a safe ride. The danger level is high, we observed a small slab avalanche while on our ride up coal creek on Saturday. There will definitely be some serious activity with these systems.
