The difference in the rear suspension from the 09 to the 10 is a one inch longer center shock and a slight difference in the rails. Looking at the rails side by side you can see a very small change in attack angle.

You can update a 09 to the same specs with a shock and relocate brackets.

sent from my HTC phone cause I have nothing better to do

buy the 2010, by the time you buy the rear kit, heavy rear springs, revalve and re oil and re pressure the rear shock you will have spent over 800.00, just did this to make an 08 into a 2010 and now waiting for the back ordered front narrowing kit to make it a 2011, except a upgraded steering post, lighter torsion bar(i dont run one) and skiis.

The updates in 2010 were supposed to increase the ability of the rider to lay the sled on its side (one of the biggest complaints in the XP until 2011) it actually had negative effects on deep snow performance. I can't notice the difference.

An update kit with relocate brackets and shock can he had for $325/US. If someone is doing all that to the rear shock on a 2009, they are just as easily doing it to a 2010 (same shock)

Any sled can benefit from heavier springs. So $800 might be what you paid, but its not what is required to be spent.

If I was looking at an 09 or 10, I would go with whats the better deal. 08's selling for $6500, 09 for $7500, I haven't looked up 10's, but they are two years old, You can buy a brand new 2012 Ptek for $10,900, so $8500 or better for a 2010 is reasonable.

Go with whatever has the least amount of miles on the motor as long as the chassis is in good shape. Don't pay too much extra for add ons unless its something you really want. If one sled has an updated non-ported track, thats a $1000 value that I would pay a little more for.
