Hi everyone, with the new or at least more affordable satellite communicators becoming more common, is there anyone in the mountain towns near where we ride (Valemount, Blue River,Golden, Revy, ect.)that can be contacted directly, or is 911 the best/only choice in an emergency. Keep in mind that most units are text only. Any info would be great.

That is exactly what I am doing. Just need to know who to call (actually text).

If you're calling 911 from a cel, I believe it goes to Edmonton. I normally have a list of direct numbers to hospitals, RCMP and helicopter companies in a ziplock in my pack

The problem is that inreach and others are text only, so a cell or email is necessary, I believe.

I would start with 911.
Each community will have SAR but I think being dispatched by 911 would keep things more organized.
Now helicopters for sled recovery is a different story.......
