If you don't you should meet the guy.

Rod's a Revy legend and for those that know him you know he would give you his last 5 bucks if he knew it would put a smile on your face.

If you can help out in any capacity please do we are just trying to put a smile back on his face.

If your looking for a great place stay when you sled, pm me for details.

I have known Rod for over 25 years. Rod and his wife Joanne, are two of my favorite people.
Ask any cab driver in Revy to take you to Rod's, and you'll be dropped off at the front door
and welcomed in.

I've known Rod for about 7 years. He has pretty much become family. There have been a couple winters where I have spent more time at his house than my own in Calgary. He lives for sledding and the mountains but like Skyler said in the fundraiser post, his heath and Jo's health has slowed him down the last year or so.

I know money is tight for a lot of folks, but if you have even $10 to donate to help us get him on the snow again, it would be greatly appreciated.

Guys toured around the backcountry with people forever free of charge because of the love for it. He was always the first guy willing to make a fire and hang with tired or weaker riders or double you up on a recovery mission. He’s a solid dude that’s been good to many.

That is definitely the cool thing about Rod's.
Snow in the forecast, get on the road, always someone around his place to ride with.
Second family basically.

Door is always open and willing to lend a helping hand expecting nothing in return. We are half way to the set goal so this is obtainable. Anything you are able to do will go to a great cause and a fantastic family.

Well a big thanks to everyone who chipped in to make this happen.

A special thanks to Andrew MacDonald and Anything Recreation Ltd. who donated $4500 from a special waffle they ran for Rod.

Below is Rod sitting on his new skidoo 850 before he knows it's his.

A picture after Dave Sushynski presented him with his new sled.

And a picture of Rod drinking rum while fredw shovels snow earlier today lol.

Do you know Rodney Chayko? Rod is the guy that rolls up on your group having sled trouble at the far end of Frisby Ridge, rips the chainsaw off the tunnel of his sled and gets a 40 foot fire going so the entire group can warm up. He leads you back to the parking lot in the dark and now your whole group is for some odd reason sitting at his family’s kitchen table having super and your wondering -- just who is this guy? Who is Rod? If you were to summarize Rodney Chayko in one word you would have to go with “generous”. Rod is the type of friend who always puts more into any given situation then he takes away. You may also know Rod as the sole survivor of the 1986 West Edmonton Mall Mind Bender accident. Well Rod and his family are currently having some bad luck with health-related issues this past year. Issues that have put a stop to the replacement of his 2013 Skidoo Xm – a sled which has had the odometer wrapped a couple times now. But today the snowmobile community is giving back and we are going to help put Rodney back on the snow and help out his friends who are pulling together to buy him a new sled. If you don’t know Rod. Once you meet him you will know there just is no denying that he is one of the most selfless people you've ever met. Rod is a true old-fashioned family man, putting family and friends first. His magnetic character has brought so many of us together to share good times in his home and on the hill.
