Just thought I would rant a bit,and see what other's had to say.
I have 2 vehicles in the early 2000 range, both in above average shape.Well taken care of ect.ect.
Both are worth no more than 20% of when they were new(approx)
The majority of used sleds on kijiji are listed for about 50-60% of new(if not more)
Where do people get there asking prices from? IMO.most people are NUTS:rant::rant::rant::rant:

i think one reason is cause people put some money into them every year and they just cant handle seeing it go to waste but in reality it kinda does.

IMO. If someone is asking 4-5 grand for a 12-13 year old sled ,they should put the lid back on the glue bottle.
(these are pretty much stock machines I am talking about)
I'm just throwing that out there.:smiliestirthepot:

good sleds go down to 3000 bucks, and sit there forever. say a 99 700 rmk 3000 in mint, 2004 900 cat 3000 in good shape. The 4000 dollar prices are machines that will collect dust...... M1000 with all the goodies is still a 6000 dollar machine.....you might get an extra 500 bucks for the 3000 you put in but thats it!! 3 years from now an M1000 will be a 3000 dollar sled

u guys are right but on the other side peaple want to give u nothing for a sled in great shape. Sold my 2007 vector se mountain today asking 5700 got 5300 and I think it was fair price but I had some bonehead offer me 4500 and another guy offered me 5000 but wanted me to deliver it to grand praire. This would have cost me 2 to300 in gas to deliver it so it goes both way.

I was mostly talking about the older iron, like 96-2000 year ranges. And also comparing those machines to vehicles.
My Grand Prix is 10years old and is worth 4K MAX.(Approx? 28K new)
Glad you got close to your asking for your machine.:)

its not much different than guys trying to sell their 8 year old miled out diesels for $20,000.

Reality will most likley kick in to many people and they will either sit on it until it sells, or reduce the price.

There are always people getting into the sport and unaware of what sled prices are. They set a budget and then spend their cash on what they can afford. Eventually there is a point where the prices level off. 2 strokes high end 2011-$9000-10,000, 2010 - $8500, 09 -$7500 08-$6500, 07-$5500, 06-$4500, 05-$4000, 04-$3500, 03-$3000, 02-$2500, 01-$2500, 00, $2000-2500, 99-$2000....eventually something won't be worth nothing, atleast to some people.

Yeah it funny how fast the sled depreciates in the first three years ( like5000$) but a 1999 is still worth 3-4000.

The 670's are the worst IMO, Sure it may be the "Hot Motor" of the 98' X but it's not worth 5K cause it's extended.

I have to disagree. People may ask 3-4000 for a '99 (whatever brand) but to me that's a $1500-$2000 sled.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be sledding.

I just sold my 2001 mountain max 700 on saturday. Had it listed for 3000 and got 2800 which I was happy about. The fellow was from south eastern Saskatchewan in town for the Oiler game.

I have a sled on kijiji right now, asking 6250, and some people are nuts, you get the reasonable guy that asks some valid questions, but come on, a 2006 crossfire with 1200 kms, in mint shape with some goodies is surely worth more than $1500 I was offered this morning and no, i am not intersted in trading for 3000 and a 94 indy 340.

I think that part of the problem is it is free, so people put on there a dumb ass price to fish and see if someone is willing to pay it. (i think my price may be a little high, but i have a mint mint sled with some extras)

As far as the depreciation differences between recreational vehicles and automobiles, I would think that the volume of production would hurt the automobiles, and auto manufactures are always offering things like 0 percent, and constant change of technology. Sleds have come along way, but not at the same rate as automobiles.

Hey. Prices jump as the snow first flies, just like when it melts, bike prices jump. Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay, nothing more. If you keep your stuff in good shape and sell at the right time and conditions, plus tell the lowballers to piss off, you should do ok.

I am new to the sport and just purchased a 2007 Summitt 600 144 track, 4500 km for $4800 asking $5000.

Went through it last night and changed out the maintenance parts with new. Overall sled is in great shape.
