Chev, Ford, Dodge Deisel..... MPG honest opinions

I spent the weekend decalling up a customers trucks. I had to drive them back and forth from Sherwood Park to my shop. I noticed that they both were averaging 20 liters / 100 km on the digital display. (one was 19 and the other was 22) Both were Ford powerstoke 6.7, one 2009 the other 2010. I average about 13 - 15 liters / 100km on my 2006 Duramax. A bit better in the summer ofcourse. I thought the New Fords got better mileage then the 08's?

I've heard all sorts of stories on all brands about great and poor mileage...... what are your experiences? Both pulling and not pulling.

Just curious.

highway speed @ 100 kph in my 2011 dually without a load, I am between 11-15l/100
towing a 40 ft toyhauler loaded at approx 18-19 k with a 125gallon water tank in front of the hitch I get anywhere from 21-25l/100 depending on grade, if I am crawling up into the mountians then it has hit as high as 32L/100
6.7l turbo diesel not modified

My 2011 ford f350 is loaded to gvw all the time. (service truck) I get about 8-10 mpg. 2012 dodge 1 ton pulls the sled trailer. It gets 15 mpg pulling trailer. It gets 20 mpg or so with just 2 sleds on the deck.

I missed typed or had a brain fart ... one was a 2011.... i think. Does this look like a 2011? It's got the big 6.7 Powerstroke badge on the door. Any way... shouldn't the 2011 6.7 be better on fuel than the 2008's? Just wondering.

Right now I am getting around 15-16l per 100kms. It really depends so many varibles like idle times, fuel, city vs highway etc. I warmed the truck up with the remote starter alot this winter and it was around 18l per 100. On the highway I am getting around 12l.

looks like small small fuel door to me.....2010 or older, ALL ford SD 2011+ (gas and diesel) have the larger fuel door for the pig piss tank fill (but the gassers obviously don't have the little blue cap behind the door)

The DEF is to help knock down the NO2 (I think is the correct one) in conjunction with the cooled EGR...

The best I ever got with my Duramax was 11.9 L / 100 km on a 400 km round trip pulling a tent trailer in summer.... all hiway. Never seen better since. I was only driving at 110. Pretty good considering. Now figure in the math..... I have over sized wheels and tires (speedo says 100 k when gps says 110 k) so that means I acually get 10% better mileage then the trucks display says I get

Got home from revy 10 mins ago. 120-130km 2011 ford dually deisel. Two sleds on the deck. 129 liters right to my couch in the west end of Edmonton.

My 2008 ford F350 is doing 16 mpg never seen anything better from it.

07.5 gmc dmax 2500HD short box
- I usually drive around 110 and at this speed it's about 12l/100km. If i dial it up to 120-130 mileage drops to about 13.5l/100km. I have tried to see how good i could get it and going around 100 i had 10.8l/100km Terrace to Rupert (not much for hills).

- deck with 2 sleds its pretty variable depending how chitty the road is....generally i would say 16-18l/100km.

- Pulling 7000lb travel trailer it's 22-23l/100km driving just over 100. If i go 110-120 it would be about 24 or worse...

It's pretty good but if you put your foot in it it will burn fuel.

Before this truck i had a 6.0l chev...same trailer same speed was about 25-27l/100km and best i ever did on the highway empty was low 15's (l/100km).

The 10.8 was a one time thing...when it was new too and i have never done better since. Usually low 11's if i drive slow. Those are from the DIC but i always check the math when i fuel up and the litres used is usually within a litre to what the DIC says.

2011 Duramax CC reset DIC when I bought it at 200kms.Truck now has 5600KMs average over life time on the DIC is 17.0l/100kms.I do a mix of mostly city a little HWY and always towing something.So far it has just been my single axle work trailer and 2 place sled trailer with sleds on.Real happy with it as my gasser 5.3 was 18.9l/100kms

Ya my around town mileage is similar...17-19 i would say. I'm always resetting mine...drive alot for work and watching the DIC helps pass the time...haha.

I always check my fill up with what the truck tells me I burned, just in case GM is trying to tell me I used less!! It always is close, about a liter per tank as well.

My 08 Dmax gets between 11.5 to 12.5l/100 if I drive around 110. With sled deck on it averages between 16-19l/ 100
