I met the 2 ladies today at Fernie Rentals when they were returning a trailer. Great to have this group in our riding area doing what they are so good at. Their information about the conditions out their can save lives.

Wonder if this would cover Fording Pass area East of Elkford on the Alberta access side. South end of K country

Great question! Technically it would not cover the Alberta side of Fording Pass, even though it does cover parts of Alberta riding areas. Zoom in on the map at avalanche.ca to see the forecast region boundaries. The South Rockies Field Team gathers info from the Lizard Range/Flathead bulletin region, and the South Rockies bulletin region. That is over 12,728 square kilometres of mountainous terrain on both the east and west slope of the Southern (Canadian) Rockies. The team only works 4 days a week, and can't cover ALL the terrain at ALL times, or any one area specifically. Like the bulletins the South Rockies Team supports, think of them more as a regional tool, rather than a drainage specific tool. Although we will talk about what we are seeing in certain riding areas, conditions are going to vary over those huge geographical zones. If I were riding in that area, I would read the K-Country and the South Rockies bulletins, and check out what the South Rockies team is saying, as well as checking out K-Country's facebook page, they make some good video updates of conditions.
