Anyone who would like to come out and help this weekend, please PM me. We are hosting a Saturday BBQ after the day's work, and would like an accurate head count. Thanks

We have ways to get you into work area if you don't have a OHV. We can double easy. Should be a easy weekend. We are working with the Backcountry Flood guys on some creekbank stabilization work. Installing willow stakes to the edges and stuff like that. Come on out and see a bit of the area without snow. Very nice area worth the work. Meet new friends and help improve the area.

For this weekend's Trail Maintenance Days, we have changed where we will be camping at. We are now camping within the equestrian camping area of Etherington Creek P.R.A. campgrounds. The equestrian campground is located all the way to "the back" of the area, near the trailhead. When you enter Etherington Creek on the gravel road, follow it all the way in, to the back, and the equestrian campground is there, with the Group Camping area on the south side of the road. See all that can make it, who are coming out.

Trail Work this past weekend was a great success; new bridge willow staked and bridge ubuttments backfilled with soil, drainage for a spring across and under a trail completed as well as a banks secured with willow stakes, and - finally - new bridges' approach angles changed by completing a re-route and willow staking done to secure upstream side of bridge. All in a weekends work! A huge thank you to everyone involved - pictures and names to follow.

If you are going to have more in the up coming weeks please post. I was away the last few weeks but if I am off I would love to come down and help.

YES we will be having more work weekends out in the area. Lots in the works waiting for some government approvals. The flood guys are getting 2 more bridges built this fall and maybe more next year. We are gearing up for the season and sure hope we can get as many riders involved as we can. Could be as simple as a trailpass and club membership will be great.
Wont be long now

The next Calgary Snowmobile Club Trail Maintenance Weekend and Saturday night BBQ will be held in conjunction with the Backcountry Trails Flood Rehabilitation program from Alberta Environment & Parks Ministry, on September 24 & 25.

We will meet each morning in the Etherington Day Use Parking Lot, which is between the main campground and the Group/Equestrian Campgrounds, at the "end of the road" in from the Forestry Trunk Road/Hwy 940, in the Etherington P.R.A. You are welcome to bring your A.T.V.'s and S.xS.'s, but you must have your unit insured and registered to operate on public land. This is the last year we will be asking you to bring your own equipment, as we are planning to have our own for the 2017 trail repair season. Equipment may include: bear spray, blaze orange safety vest, good gloves, pick-axe, spade, long crowbar, chainsaw and fuel/oil, hatchet, hand saw, and bush pruners. We will have water, but pleas bring your own lunch for Saturday, and Sunday.

We would like everyone out of the parking lot and at a work site by 10 AM. We will be sending out people to locations starting at 9 AM, if you are ready to go. Depending on the work, we will finish each day between 4 - 5 PM.

Work being done is varied. More information on that by the end of the week.

If you are a Calgary Snowmobile Club member, would like to become one, or just an interested snowmobiler who loves Cataract Creek, you are welcome to come join us and "pitch in". Please e-mail me at "trails@calgarysnowmobileclub.net" so that I may have an accurate count of participants for the BBQ on Saturday night.

We, in the club, are excited this year about some new undertakings this winter at the Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails, starting with our Poker Run being designated for Sunday, January 15, this year - so that our dealer sponsors may be able to take part. There is also a club ride on Saturday, January 14, taking place, and other "Rides at Cataract" being scheduled during this winter as one-day events. More to come on this.

Thanks for your assistance and interest in the snowmobile trails in the Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle Public Land Use Zone!

Scott,

Are volunteers able to camp out there as to save traveling back and forth from Calgary?

I would love to have a place for members to camp, similar to the Calgary ATV club. Typically the government is easy to work with for things like that.

I'll come out one day if no camping, two days if camping :)

Any fishing close by where we will be at? I've never been down in the area before .
Yep, pack your rod if you would like, I am not a slave driver........

We, collectively, know where some fish are, but don't expect whoppers! LOL
