Actually that would be backwards.
Only owned Doo's before this Cat and have not spun a wrench on the Cat so you do your best to figure out where those other experiences came from.
lol

Ya right! You've put in more hours taking **** apart trying to fix the defects on that cat then I've had hot meals. I've read your posts! Haha!

Round 1: Doo
Round 2 : CAT if you like cookie cutter sleds you should buy a doo. If you want a sled that stops guys in there tracks on the way to get 10% of Klim gear on the way to the Martins booth, mod a cat.

Maybe if it came out of the box like that it would be sweet. How much invested? Nice build though!

Who cares if it didn’t come out of the box like that? The parts to make it look like that came from a box. I have less money in this sled than a brand new 2020 Expert.

I’ve bought over 30 Cat sleds....you know what the problem is Niner....it’s the same old Cat. I like your sled, I know you got some high tech cool stuff done to it, and really smart people hands have been on it....but it’s the same old Arctic Cat snowmobile that it’s been for a long time. No doubt the new owner is starting a trend for Cat, but the new CTech and a monorail isn’t enough to make it what it isn’t. Game changer yeah maybe, but it’s like anything else, eventually old gets old and it’s time for new.

i think you have built a nice sled, and I know the people that have helped you out with it and agree they know a thing or two, I’d love to ride it just because....but....Cat needs to step it up a notch and take it to the next level. Time for a change.

We will definitely have to get out and ride together this winter. I just hope you give my sled back after you try it...

Ya, about that....ummmm lets see. The last 12 years at Cat.

- Soviet era Lada fit and finish.
- 1" of play in steering linkage from new.
- Ugly styling M series hood/ headlight looks like an alien's vagina.
- Diamond drive failures and pile ups for every ride.
- Park brake and controls that was designed by an 8 year old.
- A seat that had twice the surface area than my sofa at home.
- Bumpers that you can't get a gloved hand through to get them unstuck.
- Ongoing electrical issues for most years. Poor terminations and chafing through.
- Snow flaps that break off in winter weather. Who would have though that?
- Fisher Price displays. There cool if you still like the 90's.
- Constant grinding metal to metal noise in reverse.
- Aluminum lower gear. That won't wear out at all(sarcasm)
- Ongoing clutch issues. Exploding primary and belts. Leaving shrapnel in left leg.
- Air box systems that like to ingest snow for that perfect air/ snow mixture.
- Every fastener has a nut on the back. Two wrenches for everything.
- The usual mix of burnt and melted plastics/ harnesses under the hood. Poor design and placement in stock form.
- The richest and smokiest EFI system ever made. They should try DI for their 850... if they stick around.
- ****ty paint process and powder coating that begins to peel in the second year of ownership.
- Weak and bending tunnels under normal use. Need to be reinforced from new if you want to carry anything.
- High wear areas and pivot points with poor bushings that can't hold any lubricant.
- Still heavy pigs but lighter then a Yamaha.
- Exhaust springs that loose their tension after a few heat cycles. Making every others exhaust component looser than they already are.

I'm sure there's more. Feel free to add. If your the kind of sledder that likes to buy a new sled and enjoys lots of time in his/ her garage to fix and modify the sled before it can be used....Then Arctic Cat is the sled for you!

If your the kind of sledder that likes to add oil & gas and go riding than a Doo is for you!

Please say you never had children because you are one of the dumbest people in this forum and that’s saying a lot because this forum seems to attract some real winners. God help us all of your kid ends up pumping my diesel one day

Man I was trying hard not make the same list about doo but it's just too much fun, I can't help myself so let's stroll back through 12 years of French engineering to 2008

-800R motor is a bomb
-800R still uses carbs when the rest of the industry has adopted fuel injection but who doesn't love flooding their mtn sled every time they roll it to get unstuck right?
-bulkhead bends and cracks if you hit a snowball
- intake plugs off with snow and then pulls hot dirty underhood air
-XP flat footed bastard of a chassis with A-arms wide enough to be off a SXS
- running boards hold snow then taco after 4 whoops on the trail
- One piece tunnel means tearing the sled in two to replace a bent tail
- torsion springs
- junk shocks, not even an upgrade option for snowchecks
-cheese grater track trenches like a ditch witch until it hooks a stump and blows the ports and windows out
- clutching literally cooks eggs
- Like 4 belt revisions to better hold heat with a $50 price increase each time
- plastic bar grips are like trying to hang onto an ice cube
- lets so much snow into the engine compartment they manufacture a $125 accessory to keep it out
- shows up with fuel injection 5 years late to the party, motors quit grenading and instead melt
- invents a wobble skid to sidehill their flatfooted chassis that now weighs more so it doesn't taco so bad. Still tacos the S-mod on the smallest hit
- stators start failing regularly
- still geared too tall especially the ultra slow boring 174 option
- try to save weight by halving the coolers, sled overheats
- paint flakes off tunnel cooler and running boards after 1500km
- clutches still need a full rebuild every 1500km but at least they packaged the parts together into a kit that saves $100
- G4 came out repeat all the XP problems
They do use nice harnesses and connectors though.

And the fit of the panels is always the best in the industry

I don’t find my 2020 HC panels to fit badly. The hood fits much better than my xm one did with fewer screws to undo. And it’s nice to be able to get at the whole engine a lot easier on the cat.

I wish they would have done something to close in the gap between the gauges and steering post though.

Ya actually the new style panels do fit way better on the cats and the hood does come off very easy but previous cats were a nightmare, I hated taking them all off in the past

I think Cat has done a great job the last couple years of making staged substantial upgrades and not doing a huge unveil that needed a ton of refining. Maybe they learned their lesson from the 2012 sleds that were a flop and took years to sort out.

2017 - drop and roll with narrower boards and belly pan and some small weight savings measures
2018 - New motor, new clutches, narrower panels
2019 - Radically new Alpha skid and new track, released a hardcore model for hucking

Whereas Doo went all new everything in 2017
2017 - All new everything, clutching sucked, chassis cracked, motors popped, tracks shed lugs, electrical issues
2018 - Fix electrical, Fix chassis, try and fix clutching, added 175 and Freeride and SHOT
2019 - Fix Shot, try and fix motors, fix clutching
2020 - add Expert, try and fix tracks
2012 cats were a flop??? Mine sure wasn't. Put over 8000 km on mine and it was running strong when I got rid of it.
