Is it possible to tell if the crank is bad in a rev before it blows? I have a rattle that sounds like its comming from the clutch,It gets louder when you rev it up but it dosnt sound like a knock.Looks like the top end has been done.
Feel free to chime in Geoff, would save me some time!

its most likely just the clutch needs servicing.

how many miles.

if the engine is making that kind of noise it usually wont run for more than a few seconds

The reason Im asking is because I think it is the clutch and a guy came and looked at it and told me he thinks the crank is making that noise,I would like to get someone to listen to it.Im not sure if the clutches have been done or cleaned. The top end has new heads on it so the top end has been done but thats all I know,it runs good, starts great, will wheelie in my alley, just makes a wierd rattling noise! It has 4500 klms on it.
Thanks for you in put guys,I would like to figure this out.

Pull the clutch off & run the engine that should narrow things down a bit !

your welcome to bring it by the shop and try one of my good clutches on it.

it is safe to run it without the clutch. just watch the rpm and dont go for too long

Or you could leave it as is, and just sell me the whole machine. With another split case of Coors Light of course.

Here is the deal so far,I know it needs a recoil,a front bumper, plastic around back of seat is broken, likely a clutch.Once I find out for sure about the clutch and get it to where its sellable I will offer it to you first at a discounted rate of course but it will be for sale either way, hopefully not as a rolling chasis. When I get the clutches looked at I will get the compression tested as well but dont think that will be an issue cause the heads look new so I know they been replaced.Would be nice if Geoff would just save me some trouble and give me the goods as it seems like some things were well hiidden,he bought a blown up quad and I bought a sled that needs a bit of TLC..............It is what it is.

We had a rattle after we did the top end on my bro's 07 Rev x, we could not determine if it was the clutch or inside, after 2 days at Sicamous and a day & a 1/4 at Mcbride it became very clear the sound was not coming from the clutch, crank let go :realmad: You can pick up a mechanic's stethoscope at princess auto to isolate the noise. good luck:beer:
