Can you run AMSOIL 10W40 in Onan Generator?

If the oil meets the required specifications, can I use a synthetic oil in an Onan Generator? I have searched the operators manual and cant find any info reguarding synthetic vs. mineral. The generator is an Onan HGJAB 5500. I would like to use AMSOIL 10W40.

What weight does it call for in the manual if it calls for 10w40 use the synthetic, according to synthetic manufacturers there is no difference in quality.
