I think we could send him east for a good pick. If lidstrom retires he could go to Detroit he's a better fit in the east with less hitting and a faster game

Detroit will not take J Bo even if his contract were 1/2 as long as it is. Detroit will go after Ehrhoff or Bieksa whichever one is not signed in Vancouver.

What is really scary for Calgary is they have 7.25 million coming off the cap for expiring UFA's, but they already eat up 4.479 of that for contract extensions for Glencross and Giordano.

That leaves 2.77 mill to resign the likes of Tanguay, Morrison, Babchuk, never mind trying to improve the roster.

Best thing for Calgary to do? Get used to losing.

Add around another 5 million with the burying of Kotalik and Hagman letting Babchuck go to FA. Thats more than enough to sign Tanguay and Morrison. Should be able to bring up TJ Broie and/or Tim Erixon to fill out or defence.

I think your numbers are screwy. It's 2.55 million a year

Purge all Sutters, and start over.Just sayin.

The truth, plain and simple. I ain't no flames fan but, after the turn around the team had when the first Sutter left, that should have opened some eyes at where the biggest problem on the team is. Getting rid of Conroy was way overdue, took a non Sutter to realize that, but the best thing Calgary did was pick-up Morrison, even though he got hurt and is getting older, he still was a top point producer, re-signing him should be a priority.

I think all you CanSUCKS fans should quit worrying about what the FLAMEOUTS are doing this off season and spend your time figuring out what to do with that CLOWN-SHOW of a hockey team you have...LOL

Well we got two more years of fist pumping action with the resigning of karrlson. Good cheap 2 yea signing

Erixon is gone(a while ago) but we got an ok return for him I guess. A player who has chemistry with one of our prospects and 2 second rounders.

Sounds like tanguay won't be getting resigned. If he can't be signed we may as well start the teardown of the organization now.

No word on morrison or babchuck

Flames have the 13th overall but that could very well change by draft day by the sounds of it. Feaster has apparently had lots of interest in the pick and teams offering higher picks for more picks.

Flames have 3 picks in the top 60. Should help our prospect pool some

Its always funny watching a fan of a team who hasn't made the playoffs in years and are hung with the most no trade clauses in the league making fun of a 7th game stanley cup finalist team.

Yup, real smart, shows the brain power of many Flames fans.

CTV news in Calgary just reported the Flames have asked Robin Regehr to waive his no trade clause so they can trade him to the Buffalo Sabres. Not sure who or what they want in return.

MINNEAPOLIS – Ryan Smyth will almost certainly get his wish to move north of the 49th parallel before the draft weekend concludes, but the Calgary Flames have entered the fray and could end up getting ‘Captain Canada’ instead of his former team in Edmonton.

Kings GM Dean Lombardi said in a conference call Thursday afternoon that he has been speaking to three teams about Smyth. Sources have confirmed those three teams are the Edmonton Oilers, which is Smyth’s preferred destination, the Flames and Winnipeg.

Smyth has no interest in going to Winnipeg, so now it is down to the Flames and Oilers and the fact Calgary has asked defenseman Robyn Regehr to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Buffalo Sabres indicates they might be clearing cap space to make room for Smyth.

“It’s pretty well documented what I’m doing here,” Lombardi said Thursday afternoon. “If it’s a hockey issue, I would not approve of this. But if it’s a personal family issue, it’s hard to argue with that and have a player who’s not going to be happy. I’m not in a great position here. I hope to have that wrapped up here in a day or two.”

When Smyth made the request, it seemed straightforward that he wanted to go back to Edmonton and the Kings would do their best to accommodate him. But one source said that when the Oilers wanted to move Sheldon Souray’s contract to the Kings in return, L.A. contacted the Flames and, to their surprise, found the Flames to be very interested in acquiring Smyth.

Chances are wherever Smyth goes – and he is most certainly on his way back to Alberta – the Kings will not receive much in return, aside from $6.25 million in cap space that would allow them to pursue free agent Brad Richards when free agency opens July 1. If that’s the case, the Smyth trade request might be the best thing to ever happen to the Kings.

One thing is certain, however, the Kings are not about to take any big contracts in return for losing their fourth-highest scorer and a player who initiated this process by requesting a trade in the first place.

Should Smyth go to Calgary and Regehr waive his no-trade clause, it poses an interesting situation for both the Flames and Sabres. Speculation is the Flames would be interested in getting highly touted Sabres prospect Luke Adam, who was named rookie of the year in the American League. In return, the Sabres would get a veteran defenseman who could show leadership and help stabilize a blueline corps that has five regulars – Tyler Myers, Marc-Andre Gragnani, Mike Weber, Andrej Sekera and Chris Butler – who are 25 or under.

Sad thing is, your on your way down, not up.

Everything goes in cycles. You may be right but your team was sucking the hind teet at one time. When you have a Stanley Cup on your resume then maybe we can take you a bit more seriously.:nono:

Latest from TSN is that Regehr is passing on Buffalo. I'm sure the mountain riding on his boosted Yamaha would be pretty limited in that city.
