When. I was a little kid, the words Ski Doo were synonymous with snowmobile. Then Polaris’ appeared in our town, then Arctic Cats. But Ski Doo somehow was still Canada’s snowmobile, and we’ve owned and enjoyed several of them over the years. Great machines, no doubt. But this fall when we were shopping for new sleds, I just couldn’t get the shafting Alberta and Saskatchewan has been enduring from Quebec. Forget SNC Lavallin. That peanuts. I’m referring to Quebec essentially shutting down The Energy East pipeline, biffing hundreds of thousands of westerners, gobbling the lion’s share of the grossly misnamed “ Equalization Payments,” but saying, “ buy our Ski Doos.” And not even a please.
So this fall I bought two Polaris sleds and We love them. What strikes me as odd is that hundreds of Westerners, all affected by Quebec, trade their hard-earned wages for Quebec snowmobiles. Don’t get me wrong...I admire and respect the brand, but really? Maybe this explains the clever rebranding with things like “Doo talk.”
well a skunk still smells even if you call it a dog.
Have the Americans been kind to us? Not really, but I’d rather be screwed in business by my cousin than by my brother.
my two cents (1.4 US)
