Looks like instead of a BOV in the pressurized air side of the turbo, it bleads off exhaust pressure into the can to regulate things....that's how it looks to a dum dum (me) anyways....

Its just the wastegate that's dumping into that teapot muffler thingamajig on top . The best muffler for a turbo is no muffler , after the exhaust spins the turbine it is job is done and any residual back pressure is a hindrance .Just exit the machine as quick as possible is the correct answer .
