So a fellow member (Rusty) had a Pre-Stag gathering of friends and family at Lac Ste. Anne on Saturday to do some sledding and ice fishing. Had a great day. Lots of snow and weather was extremely warm.
There were a large group of **Old Sleds** on the ice...WOW some awesome looking rides.

Photos of our Pre-Stag group
First photo is Rusty on his borrowed sled.

Here are some of the other sleds I saw Saturday.
Some of the refurbishing on them was second to none.

And Finally...a photo of the fine gentleman and his family.

We were trying to fix Rusty's blown belt and the belt cords were jammed in the clutch. He was kind enough to rip back to his cabin and grab some tools. We weren't able to fix it but we really appreciate the assistance...Sledders are the best.

That was a great post. I wish I could have been there to see the old sleds. I was in town on Sat. getting my old iron ready for it's next trip to PowderKing this weekend.

Great pictures. It reminded me of my first sled...5500 Blizzard.
All the people out @ Lac St. Anne are great. I had a house @ Sandy Beach many moons ago, and there was always sledding back and forward. Really good people to know.

Very cool pics. We ran into those guy's at Darwell and saw them again on the lake by the narrows. Every one of them was in mint condition...other than the first on over by the store. Nice to see not everyone needs 150 hp to have a good time.:p

Nice post, love the old iron pics, especially the Ski-doo Blizzards..both Tnt and 1979 7500+ or was it a 78 6500?

Is this happening again this year or next? Would love to attend and maybe bring some vintage John Deere's to class up the ride....Liquifire & or Trailfire.

Saw the pics again & spooted the back of the Blizzard 7500+ in the Yamaha pic. A 1979 Blizzard 7500+, a favorite of mine. Wanted one for many years and haven't seen a nice one or running one in as many years. Is it for sale??

Sorry Lyle, actually I thought it was Darren's trailer.
Great day at the lake...old iron rules.

Here is another cool site...a plane landing in the snow. First time I've ever seen that.

There are 4 or 5 vintage rides in Alberta most winters. This is a good alternative to riding in the mountains when conditions are as they are. Last weekend we rode out at Driedmeat Lake just south of Camrose, and with some Vintage Iron, you can pound away on a hill for a long time before some makes it to the top, and little to no avy possability! When ALL your buds are riding the same vintage iron, it is just as fun! Vintage can be fun, but with a slightly different mindset. I love my 09 as well, but a good day is a good day, no matter what it is on.

What a great day it was! Nice pics we sure enjoyed seeing those old sleds. Did anyone else see that thing that looked like a white Van with black windows on Sunday? Looked like it had two tracks and one front ski but we were too far away to see it. btw great site!:)

Was supposed to head out for that ride with Dom, but had to head to Swan Hills to drag out a Tapex with snapped drive axle. PS. if you are riding up there watch the creeks cause they almost swallowed buddies sled (rotton ice)
Did manage to get out on Sunday with the 68 snow cruiser I bought off Dom, a rip on my Johnson Reveler, pulled out of storage two more of my seven Elans 250's, a 68 Olympic 335, towed home my 77 340 Olympic that coughed up a lung while tearing it up last weekend, then went highmarking with one of the Elans with Hagmod1 and his Safari and Turbopru and his 377 SS with ultra tall windshield. And ya almost PI##ED myself laughing at them spinning out on some hills only a mile from home, and no Av gas was used.
Cheers:beer:
